New Skoda Fabia 2021, is now more spacious and connected

by admin

Skoda Fabia reaches its fourth generation and does so by presenting a long list of innovations, starting with the use of the modular platform Mqb-A0. Now the Czech brand’s novelty is bigger, more spacious on board, connected and safer thanks to advanced level 2 autonomous driving. Cousin of the new Volkswagen Polo, the starting platform is the same, the new Fabia has a completely renewed design compared to the past.

Skoda Fabia 2021, dimensions

Compared to the first three generations, the new Skoda Fabia is larger both inside and out, while the weight remains virtually unchanged. With a length of 4,108 mm, it exceeds the four-meter threshold for the first time. Compared to the previous one it is 111 mm longer; the wheelbase increased by 94mm to 2,564mm and the width increased by 48mm to 1,780mm. The increase in overall dimensions allows for an even more spacious interior with a load capacity of 380 liters of luggage space, which is 50 liters more than before. By folding down the rear seats, the boot capacity can reach 1,190 liters.

Interior new Skoda Fabia

Thanks to the 94 mm longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor, the new Fabia offers even more space for passengers, especially in the rear. At 2,564 mm, the compact’s wheelbase is even higher than that of the first generation Octavia (launched in 1996) which measured 2,512 mm. The new interior design further enhances the feeling of spaciousness of the Fabia, which will be available in the well-known trim levels – Ambition and Style – at market launch. The symmetrical dashboard with independent central display and the horizontal decorative strips, for which you can choose from six different versions (depending on the trim level), emphasize the width of the interior. Starting with the Ambition, the front of the dashboard is covered in fabric with contrast stitching. The large circular air intakes on the right and left – characterized by a chrome coating starting from the Ambition – as well as the newly designed door handles, also chrome, characterize the interior. Digital instrumentation with 10.25 ” display also makes its debut. You can choose between classic layout, which is based on the style of analog round instruments, modern, reduced and extended layout. As part of the Dynamics option package, there is a fifth option – the Sport layout, in which the rev counter takes center stage. The “Virtual Cockpit”, as the digital instrumentation is called, can display, among other things, the logos of radio stations, the covers of the music albums and the stored images of the contacts.

Connectivity

On the new Skoda Fabia it is possible to choose between different infotainment systems in Italy. Bolero offers Dab radio, 8 ” screen, Bluetooth hands-free system and two additional surround-sound speakers in the rear doors. A smartphone can be connected without the need for a cable via Wireless SmartLink and Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, while the optional Phone Box allows inductive charging.

Level 2 autonomous driving

The fourth generation of Fabia brings the Travel Assistant to its debut, which provides automatic support for longitudinal and lateral movements. It can be activated at the touch of a button and combines several assistance systems at the same time. Up to 210 km / h, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts the safety distance and speed of the car relative to that of the vehicles in front. Lane Assistant, as the name suggests, helps keep the car in lane by performing corrective steering input as needed. Using Hands-on Detect technology, the Travel Assistant checks whether the driver touches the steering wheel consistently. The new Side Assistant is another option. This system warns the driver of vehicles approaching from behind up to 70 m away that they are overtaking or that they are in the blind spot of the car. Among the novelties comes the Park Assistant which works up to a speed of 40 km / h, showing suitable parallel and transverse parking spaces and, if desired, assuming control of the steering when parking.
