The railway plans to renew itself as part of its future agenda. Part of this strategy also includes new two-person compartments that allow some privacy.
The compartments should allow privacy and can be reserved digitally – passengers were already allowed to test sit in a model of the compartment.
The new compartments are part of the future agenda, which also includes new concepts for train stations and travel centers.
Want to work undisturbed on the train, make phone calls or even have confidential conversations? This is usually a rather difficult project, but could change soon – because Deutsche Bahn is planning new two-person compartments. The goal: retreats where guests are truly undisturbed.

New private compartments on the train
Like Michael Peterson, board member for long-distance transport at Deutsche Bahn „Bild“ explained that the railway is currently developing new compartment concepts for the ICE. The new compartments would allow confidential conversations in a protected environment and are currently being tested.
As the newspaper writes, the compartments should be two meters wide and 70 centimeters deep, and the glass can be changed from transparent to frosted glass. However, it is not yet clear when the new compartments will be available and how expensive they will be.

The railway wants to prepare for the future
According to “Bild”, the new compartments are part of Deutsche Bahn’s future agenda. They want to prepare for the long-distance transport of the future. Other cornerstones of the future agenda include the booking of seats in real time and the further development of train stations and travel centers. The DB wants to modernize train stations and expand and renew its travel centers at the 25 busiest long-distance train stations.
