The sporting goods manufacturer Adidas has equipped the German national football teams for 70 years.
Now the German Football Association is breaking with tradition and has chosen the US brand Nike.
The seven-year partnership begins in 2027.
From 2027, Nike will equip the German national soccer teams. The German Football Association (DFB) announced this surprising change. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf emphasized that the future partnership would enable the DFB to “continue to carry out key tasks in the coming decade with a view to the comprehensive development of football in Germany”. The partnership begins in January 2027 and runs until 2034.
Until now, the national team has worn Adidas. This supplier accompanied the DFB for over 70 years and through all World Cup and European Championship successes. Holger Blask, head of DFB GmbH & Co. KG, explained that the decision to rely on Nike was based on a fair tender.
