Nissan has announced the acquisition of the e.dams team, thus taking full control of the team’s activities in the Abb Fia Formula E World Championship. The team is currently based in France, at Le Mans, and will continue to compete as planned in season 8.
The change of ownership and the establishment of the new management structure will take effect immediately and Tommaso Volpe, General Manager of Nissan Formula E, will also become CEO of e.dams.
A long-term commitment to electric racing
The acquisition of the e.dams team confirms the Japanese brand’s long-term commitment to the Formula E championship.
Nissan debuted in the Abb Fia Formula E World Championship in season number 5 (2018/19), making it the first and only Japanese carmaker to enter the series. In March 2021, Nissan also announced its commitment to Formula E Gen3, from Season 9 (2022/23) to all Season 12 (2025/26) of the series.
This year, for Season 8, veteran Sébastien Buemi, part of the Nissan e.dams team since 2018, is paired with rising star Maximilian Günther, who joined the team in September 2021. The German driver has shown a good pace, winning three races so far and taking second place.
