“The pandemic has changed not only workers’ priorities and preferences. It has fundamentally changed the perception of what is meant by good work, ”says Gianluca Bonacchi, recruitment evangelist at Indeed, one of the most important job search portals in Italy. The result is that a survey by the portal says that over 46% of Italians are thinking of changing jobs. «Today people want first of all to feel safe – continues Bonacchi -. They also want to be able to count on a certain amount of flexibility in carrying out their duties. Both in terms of times and places. Last but not least, they appreciate all those benefits and forms of support capable of offering support that goes beyond the mere working dimension “.
Higher salaries
But what are the reasons for wanting to change jobs? The strongest push, according to Indeed’s survey, is the need to earn more which is the main cause for 54% of workers. Then there is the uncertainty of the last two years which has given new charm to solidity and which leads people to orientate people towards companies with good development prospects (18%) and safe jobs (15%). 16% instead look to benefit packages, a percentage similar to that of those who want to change jobs to have the opportunity to work from home
Professional mobility
What changes compared to the past is the propensity for professional mobility which in our country, also due to the low dynamics of the labor market, has always been certainly lower than in the United States, but also in countries such as France or Germany. Now, however, according to the Indeed survey, change is not scary and one in two workers is convinced they can seize new opportunities in 2022.
Turn over in aumento
This worker confidence is also reflected by employers: 20%, in fact, expect to hire at a faster rate than in the pre-pandemic. Probably due to good development prospects, but also by virtue of the turnover which, during 2021, increased according to 33% of recruiters: this is said by 45% of companies that employ more than 500 people. Among the measures that employers are willing to consider to attract and retain the best talents are the increase of the possibility of working from home, the organization of workspaces in order to guarantee distancing, the offer of psychological support , the improvement of benefits and the creation of socialization opportunities.
