This is the provisions of the intervention plan approved by the Sardinian Sea and Ports System Authority, the institution that has jurisdiction over the main ports of call on the island which recently saw the renewal of the mandate of President Massimo Deiana.

An important chapter of the new programming concerns the three-year investment plan that goes from 2021 to 2023. The Port of Cagliari
The plan approved by the body also provides for interventions concerning the “gradual infrastructuring” of the bulk terminal on the west bank of the Port Channel – the evolution basin side – for which, “after having been explained to the Partnership Body of the Sea Resource”, it was submitted the implementation plan that defines and organizes the spaces on the ground, outlining, at the same time, the infrastructure of the rear-bench areas currently not used. A project that covers an area of about 280 thousand square meters and which “will include, once defined and tendered”, the execution of urbanization works, roads, delimitation of parking areas, subdivision of lots for activities port and a perimeter of the entire compendium with green areas. The process, once concluded, “will guarantee order and greater operations to the solid bulk sector which, in the port of Cagliari, has a handling of about one million tons per year”.
Strengthening of decentralized offices
The Authority’s programs also include the strengthening of decentralized offices. Of particular importance is the point relating to the establishment of the decentralized administrative office in the Porto Torres airport. “In light of the growing traffic data recorded since 2017 and the massive infrastructural interventions in progress and in planning, tasks of greater complexity and autonomy are required, in anticipation, above all, of the imminent strengthening of the existing staff”.
