(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) – The European stock markets open positively in the week in which the Old Continent’s quarterly reporting season comes into full swing, with the results of some giants of the Italian Stock Exchange such as Unicredit and Leonardo. Investors are awaiting the Bank of England meeting scheduled for Thursday 9 May, from which signals could emerge about the start of the monetary easing cycle in the country. On the subject of central banks, attention will also be paid to the speech by Fed Deputy Governor Williams, to get further indications on the next rate cuts in the USA, in light of the latest employment report, with numbers lower than expected.

The FTSE MIB of Milan, the CAC 40 of Paris, the DAX 30 of Frankfurt, the AEX of Amsterdam and the IBEX 35 of Madrid are thus traveling positively.

Spread decreasing to around 129 basis points

The spread between BTp and Bund is decreasing. The yield differential between the benchmark ten-year BTp (Isin IT0005560948) and the German Bund of the same duration stands at around 129 basis points, compared to 131 points of the latest reference. The yield of the benchmark ten-year BTp also fell, marking a first position at 3.76% from 3.88% at the closing the day before.

Euro little moved, oil rises again

On the Asian front, the Nikkei closed down by 0.10%, while the rest of the markets were positive, despite the slight decline in the PMI services index in China (down from 52.7 in April to 52.5).
