Bernard Hill, a senior actor from England, died on Sunday (5/5) at the age of 79. The sad news was announced by Hill’s family.
“It is with deep sadness that we must announce that Bernard Hill, a renowned actor known for his roles in Titanic and Lord of the Rings, passed away early this morning at the age of 79,” the family announced, quoted from CNN.

However, the family did not provide further details regarding the reasons for Bernard Hill’s death. They only said the actor was accompanied by his fiancee and son.
“He was accompanied by his fiancee, Alison, and son, Gabriel,” added a statement from the family.

Bernard Hill is an English actor who was born on December 17 1944. In his personal life, he was married to actress Marianna Hill, but divorced. Hill also has one son named Gabriel.
As stated by his family, Bernard Hill is an actor whose name is widely known through two big blockbuster films, namely Titanic and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
In the film Titanic, which was broadcast in 1997, Bernard Hill played Captain Edward Smith, who commanded the British luxury passenger ship.
Captain Smith bears the burden of not being able to save the Titanic from sinking. So, he ended his life by sinking along with the ship he was captaining.
Bernard Hill is also one of the actors who starred in The Lord of the Rings. He appeared in two films in the trilogy, namely The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003).
In the film, directed by Peter Jackson, Hill plays Theoden, the King of Rohan. Théoden is said to be under the influence of Saruman’s magic and the control of his subordinate, Grima Wormtongue.
Theoden is finally freed from Saruman’s influence after being rescued by Gandalf and friends. The King of Rohan then reappeared in the third film with his team in helping Aragorn fight in Minas Tirith.
Apart from these two blockbuster films, Bernard Hill also has a long list of films and TV series that he has starred in since starting his career as an actor in the 1970s. Some of them are the film True Crime (1999), the series Boys from the Blackstuff (1982), and Wolf Hall (2015).
