Recent studies suggest that exercise triggers a wide range of cellular processes throughout the body, both during and after training. Some of these processes reduce inflammation, while others increase cellular repair and maintenance. Muscle cells also release signaling molecules – exerkines – that carry messages between organs and tissues, creating a body-wide communication network.
