In 2020, the Food & Beverage (F&B) sector recorded a global increase of 36.3% in value compared to a reduction of 9.6% in terms of the number of M&A transactions globally compared to 2019.
The pandemic has led to a change in consumer habits and a necessary evolution of business models towards multi-channeling, accelerating the digitization processes and attention to sustainability issues. This is the trend that emerges from PwC’s ‘Global and Italian M&A Insights Food & Beverage market 2021’ report. In Italy the M&A activity in the F&B segment recorded a -29.8% in volumes, but an increase of + 206.7% in value (in comparison with 2019), thanks to important tickets announced in the sectors by big companies corporate.
