The often heard argument that owning a house or apartment makes you more independent is only partially true. Although the purchase eliminates the dependence on the landlord, in return the bank, the community and the neighbors, with whom an owner has to come to terms for the next few decades, usually come to the fore. Added to this is the fact that he has to constantly look after the property. This applies not only to tax or official obligations, but also to compliance with requirements relating, for example, to building renovations. In the end, when it comes to the question “Rent or buy?”, in addition to the pure financing, it is also a question of type that has to be decided personally.
