2021 is drawing to a close with numerous new contracts in the hydrocarbon sector for Saipem, a probable sign of a general recovery in orders after years in which little investment has been made in the world in oil and gas. The Italian company has signed a contract with Saudi Aramco relating to the Jafurah Development Program in Saudi Arabia, which envisages the construction of a system for the collection of hydrocarbons and for the transport of gas and condensate to the new Jafurah plant in the east of the country. Furthermore, Saipem will build the system to transport the water resulting from the separation from the treated gas. The contract has a total value of approximately 750 million US dollars.
The contract, of the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) type, includes the engineering, supply of materials, construction and commissioning of approximately 835 km of pipeline for the transportation of gas, condensate and production water.
Thus Francesco Caio, Saipem CEO: “The award of this new project by Aramco consolidates a long-standing relationship and the strategic positioning of Saipem in the Middle East. The agreement confirms the trust and appreciation of our customers in the project management capacity and in the cutting-edge engineering and technological services that Saipem is able to offer “.
