«I thank you for the sacrifices you are making which, certainly, are of great help in overcoming a difficult period. For this reason, I take the liberty of making my annual emolument available, which will at least allow you to alleviate, at least in part, the burden of layoffs. A warm greeting. Massimo Moratti ».

With this handwritten letter to the employees of the Saras plant in Sarroch, the president of the oil refining company renounced his annual salary, approximately 1.5 million, to supplement the salary of employees on layoffs.

A gesture also appreciated by the trade unions. «The Moratti family once again proves that they are close to their employees. I have never seen a similar initiative in any entrepreneurial reality in Sardinia », comments the trade unionist Stefano Fais, of the corporate Rsu CGIL.

Saras adopted some measures at the end of October 2020 to keep costs under control, including the use of social safety nets for the group’s staff and in particular, thanks to the agreement with the trade unions, the launch of the partial layoffs, which have made it possible to contain the impacts generated by the pandemic crisis in the reference market.
