After all, on the Czech initiative, ammunition is now being purchased on the world market and corresponding production is ramping up in Europe. What do you think of these latest efforts?
This is happening too late and too little, important orders have still not been placed, more money needs to be invested in the long term to increase capacity. These are all political decisions. More short-term purchases should be made abroad and, in the medium term, European industry should develop higher capacities in this area. In the long term, we need new weapon systems, more ammunition and a modernization or expansion of the capacity of the European weapons industry. This is not just about Ukraine, but also about Germany and other EU states. These are industrial policy decisions that must be made now, nationally and at European level.
