A move that probably came as a surprise to Kaeser himself. Until today’s Annual General Meeting, Siemens CFO Ralf Thomas was a member of the Supervisory Board’s Nomination Committee. But, as Kaeser previously explained during the meeting, the committee had “unanimously” approved the election proposals of Grimm and Simone Menne. A Siemens spokesman explained the change in mood as follows: “In the run-up to the voting process, previously unknown concerns were made public that would affect both the success of Prof. Grimm as a member of the supervisory board for Siemens Energy and as a member of the expert committee . Due to this conflict of interest, Siemens AG did not vote for the appointment.†According to company circles, Siemens is bothered by the fact that Grimm did not vote in advance in the Advisory Council on her plan to stand for election as controller at Siemens Energy . As a result, the other wise men’s concerns about a conflict of interest were not made transparent, and these concerns were reinforced by the subsequent public discussion
