The words of the president of INPS Pasquale Tridico have triggered the alarm: the single check, a resource that could help 11 million children (according to estimates) for which it will be possible to apply from January 1st, could be halved in the event of separated or divorced couples. To have it whole, obtaining an amount between 50 and 175 euros per month according to the ISEE, “both parents will have to complete the application” explained yesterday the INPS president Pasquale Tridico in a hearing in the Social Affairs Committee of the Chamber resumed today by Il Messenger.
Once connected to the INPS system to submit their application, the requesting parent will have to wait for a second step to formalize it. Because the other parent will have to receive a text message and decide whether to enter his data “to receive 50% of the amount or whether to leave the entire amount to the ex partner” added Tridico. But “if the second parent does not intervene to complete the application, the first parent, or the applicant, will only receive 50% of the check».
It is not the only problem that the INPS president highlighted at the hearing. The Institute already expects that many will not present the equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (Isee), thus settling for the minimum amount. «Probably many citizens will not do it», considering «it is appropriate to receive the minimum amount foreseen, which is 50 euros». A knot to be solved: the ISEE is a very important tool, which manages to intercept that evasion that instead escapes the IRPEF, but despite the increasing use weighs only on the INPS coffers, highlights Tridico, suggesting the country to adopt of “a fund that belongs to all the ministries interested in the ISEE”. Meanwhile, an eye is also directed to the Maneuver, which includes a proposal for further simplification of the pre-filled ISEE: “I hope it can become law – says Tridico – because it would allow us” to triple the people who do it today, who are alone 12% of citizens.
The measure remains that from March, with total resources of 12.2 billion for 2022 plus 6 billion when fully operational from 2023 – for a total of 18.2 billion – will allow many families to receive the necessary support in times of crisis. Tridico did the point on the measure in the same hearing before the Social Affairs Committee of the Chamber: «It has an amount to decrease from 175 euros per month for ISEE equal to or less than 15 thousand euros and gradually decreases to 50 euros for ISEE equal to or greater than 40 thousand euros. Even without presenting the ISEE, families will receive 50 euros per child “, recalled Tridico, listing the various increases (from each child following the second to disabled children) thanks to which a family with up to 5 minors will have an important monthly amount. The single allowance, which does not contribute to the formation of the overall income, is compatible both with any other cash measures in favor of the children, and with the Citizenship Income (the share for the children is deducted from the theoretical portion of the single allowance already provided for by the citizenship income). Payments will take place monthly starting from April 2022.
