The Stellantis plant in Melfi, in the province of Potenza, closes today and for the whole week. The unions announce it: «Stellantis has announced a new total closure of the entire plant from 3 to 10 May inclusive. This further period of suspension of activities is linked to the market consequences deriving from the Covid-19 emergency and the lack of essential components for production – semiconductors ». This was announced by the regional secretary of Uilm Lucana, Marco Lomio.

All operations in the potentino plant will be stopped, including the production of the Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass models, and the more than 7,000 workers at the Melfi plant will be placed on layoffs.

“These continuous stops linked to supply problems – added Lomio – to date do not see a solution and have a strong impact on the wages of workers”.
