Top Airports in Asia Dominate Skytrax World Airport Awards

The Skytrax World Airport Awards selected the best air terminals in the world, with most of those in the top 10 located in cities in Asia. Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport ranked 39th on the list. The first place went to Hamad Airport in Doha, Qatar, described as the most architecturally significant and luxurious terminal complex, and the hub airport for Qatar Airways.

Changi Airport in Singapore grabbed the second spot, followed by Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea, which had previously held the top position. The Haneda and Narita airports in Tokyo rounded out the top five.

The sixth spot was taken by Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, the main hub of Air France. The list also included Dubai International Airport, Munich’s Franz Josef Strauss Airport, Zurich’s Kloten Airport, and Istanbul Airport, the main hub of Turkish Airlines.

The awards were based on a global survey measuring the satisfaction of air terminal users, who were asked to choose the best airport. Skytrax considers these awards as prizes given by passengers. Along with Bogotá, another South American airport, Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, made it into the top rankings.

Several airports were also recognized in different categories, with Japan dominating the list of winners. Narita Airport in Tokyo was named the airport with the best staff, while Haneda Airport was deemed the cleanest. Narita Airport also earned recognition for the best airport by the number of passengers, while New Chitose Airport in Japan was honored as the best new airport. Downtown Nagoya in Japan was named the best regional airport, and Fiumicino Airport in Rome was applauded for the best airport security.
