More Than 500 Migrant Workers Return to Quanzhou to Start Work After Chinese New Year
On February 21, over 500 migrant workers from 24 companies took special trains organized by Hui’an County to return to Quanzhou from their hometowns in order to start a new journey of hard work in the new year.
To help companies get a good start in the New Year, Quanzhou encourages the chartering of buses across regions to organize migrant workers to return to work. Hui’an County also provides return-to-work subsidies to migrant workers from the province who return to work after the holiday and provides start-up red envelopes to keep employees motivated.
Li Jie, an employee from Shandong, expressed gratitude for the return-to-work chartered bus organized by his company, Hui’an Wanhua New Materials Co., Ltd. He stated, “I go home every year for the Chinese New Year, and the passenger volume of public transportation increases significantly after the festival. I worry about how to get back to the factory, and the cost of taking a taxi is high. Thanks to the dedicated car transportation, I save a lot of worry.”
The efforts to support the return of migrant workers to work have been substantial. Companies with a large number of migrant workers in the province were sorted out to determine return routes, and Hui’an will provide transportation subsidies of up to 100,000 yuan to each company that charters flights and buses to organize employees to return to work.
Furthermore, on the first working day after the Spring Festival holiday, Fujian Nanwang Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. in Hui’an County sent start-up red envelopes to 860 employees who returned to work. This was part of the “Gathering Benefits and Enjoying the New Year” policy, which aims to help businesses stabilize their jobs and promote employment.
According to reports, the return rate to work in Hui’an County is over 90%, and the resumption rate of enterprises above designated size is 100%.
The city of Quanzhou has been committed to promoting employment and supporting the return of migrant workers to work after the Chinese New Year, with various measures in place to ensure a smooth transition back into the workforce.
