DThe good news for all singles in the country first: The burden of taxes and duties fell last year. In 2022, sole earners without children had to pay an average of 37.4 percent of their gross wages to the tax office and social security agencies. A year earlier, the burden was still 37.7 percent.

But that can hardly outweigh the bad news.
