Taycan Turbo GT: the most extreme ever. Here’s the proof

The new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is registered, therefore also suitable for the road, but in fact it was designed to offer extreme performance and have fun on the circuit: it is no coincidence that it set new track records at Laguna Seca in recent weeks ( 1:27.87 min) and Nurburgring (7:07.55 min).
Compared to the “classic” Taycan it offers more extreme performance such as an incredible peak power of 815 kW (1,108 horsepower) and 1,340 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 takes just 2.3 seconds, while reaching 200 km/h takes 6.6 seconds, with a top speed of 290 km/h. Despite such high performance, we were surprised by the fact that the autonomy remains quite large, with 555 km available even if measured in the WLTP cycle.

Compared to the Push to pass button present on Taycans equipped with the Sport Chrono package and Performance Battery Plus, the Turbo GT offers the Attack Mode which brings the additional thrust to 120 kW (163 hp), again for 10 seconds. The reset time between one use and the next also drops to just 4 seconds (the Push to pass requires 10). The price has also increased significantly, which now starts at 250,000 euros.

Two-seater

The Turbo GT will also be available in the Weissach version (at the same price as the Turbo GT), recognizable by the rear wing, the front deflectors which reduce the temperature of the carbon-ceramic braking system and above all by the lack of rear seats replaced by a fiberglass panel. carbon. This modification allows it to be 75 kg lighter (oddly enough, there are no stabilizer bars) so as to be even more agile on the track and to reach 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds (200 km/h in 6.4 s). and the maximum speed of 305 km/h.

Extreme acceleration

The Launch Control function of the Turbo GT – to be tested exclusively on the track – which allows you to reach 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds, is for strong hearts (and stomachs): you press the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal all the way down and when the writing “Lounch Control Ready” appears on the dashboard, the brakes are completely released. The explosion of power projects the car forward, crushing the driver into the seat but, despite the fact that during our test the temperature was quite low (9 degrees) and the asphalt was still slightly wet, the electronics and active suspensions worked excellently, allowing a launch without getting upset.

Continuing the lap on the track, the behavior was always extremely precise, despite the power involved, with extreme steering precision and a set-up that was never excessively unbalanced. The brakes seemed to be the only aspect that could be improved, but it must be said that slowing down a mass of over 2,400 kg (including the driver) launched at more than 230 km per hour is not a trivial operation.
