A classic recall on this scale would be a challenge for Tesla: Chinese authorities have asked Tesla to improve the vehicle software in two places. Affected are Model 3, Y, S and X, which rolled off the assembly line between 2019 and 2023. However, you do not have to go to the workshop for this. The update will be distributed over-the-air starting May 29th.
Acceleration warning
The State Market Regulatory Authority of China (SAMR) bothers you Report by cnevpost according to two details. On the one hand, they demand that drivers should be warned if they hold the accelerator pedal down for too long. This demand is likely to be based on an accident in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, in which a Tesla crashed into a crowd at high speed. There was speculation that the driver mixed up the pedals. Tesla pointed out that vehicle data had indicated that the driver had pressed the drive but never pressed the brake pedal. A warning, presumably output via the screen and speakers, should indicate this error.
Less recuperation
A second update concerns recuperation. In Tesla models for the Chinese market, there is apparently no alternative to so-called one-pedal driving. The electric motor decelerates comparatively strongly when the driver takes his foot off the accelerator pedal. For a comparable reduction in speed in a car with a combustion engine, you have to do more than just tap the brake pedal. The Chinese Tesla models are now apparently being retrofitted with a selectable mode in which this delay is less severe.
