Tesla Opens Online Store in Chile and Expands Sales to South America
Businessman Elon Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, has opened an online store in Chile and has plans to expand their sales to the rest of South America. Although the company does not have a physical store at the moment, their cars are available for test drives and purchase at the Parque Arauco mall in Santiago.
The cheapest model sold in Chile, the Model 3 Standard Range, comes with a price tag of $39.9 million (about USD$42,000). Despite the high cost, Tesla remains one of the best-selling electric car brands in the world, second only to the Chinese BYD.
One of the key features of Tesla vehicles is their impressive security system, which uses cameras to detect any suspicious activity around the vehicle. The cars also have a crash-proof system, thanks to a low center of gravity which prevents tipping over.
Tesla vehicles also come equipped with autonomous driving capabilities, although currently only the basic mode is available in Chile. The company plans to introduce additional modes in the future.
In terms of charging, Tesla models offer three charging modes: a travel charger, a Wall Connector for home use, and charging points that will be installed throughout the country. According to information, using a charging point costs a third of what it costs to charge gasoline.
In addition to contributing to emissions reduction, electric vehicles are also more economical for users in terms of energy. Despite the cost of purchasing and charging, Tesla’s innovative features and commitment to sustainability make them an attractive investment for environmentally conscious consumers.
