“Study Finds Electric Cars More Profitable Than Gasoline Vehicles”
A recent study conducted by the comparative site Verivox in Germany has found that owning an electric car is much more profitable than driving a gasoline vehicle. The study revealed that recharging electric cars at home is 46% cheaper on average compared to refueling gasoline vehicles and 38% cheaper compared to diesel vehicles.
The study was based on an annual mileage limit of 12,000 kilometers and an average electricity price of $0.15 per kilowatt-hour for households in the United States. This results in an average annual cost of $972.00 USD for electric vehicle owners, translating to $8.29 USD for every 100 kilometers.
It was also noted that the cost of charging at public stations increases to $0.56 USD for a full load and even higher at fast charging stations, with a rate of $0.68 USD per kilowatt-hour, resulting in $11.38 USD for every 100 kilometers.
In comparison, the study found that the annual cost of using a gasoline engine was $1,771.00 USD and $14.58 USD for every 100 kilometers, with an average price per liter of $1,999.55 USD. Diesel vehicles were slightly cheaper, with an annual cost of $1,584.00 USD and $13.19 USD for every 100 kilometers.
These findings highlight the cost-effectiveness of electric vehicles over traditional gasoline and diesel vehicles, providing a compelling reason for more consumers to consider making the switch to electric car ownership.
