Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin Wallet Becomes Active Again After 13 Years
The mysterious creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, who disappeared in December 2010, has recently resurfaced as his wallet received a significant transfer of almost 27 BTC. This marks the first activity in the original Bitcoin account in over a decade, sparking speculation and intrigue within the cryptocurrency sector.
The account, named Genesis, is the first wallet created on the bitcoin network and is believed to belong to Nakamoto, whose true identity has never been confirmed. On January 5, at 07:52am CET, the wallet received a transfer of 26,917 BTC, equivalent to about 1.17 million dollars. The sudden movement has brought attention to the enigmatic creator and the future of Bitcoin.
Conor Grogan, director of Coinbase, offered two possible explanations for the transfer, stating, “Either Satoshi woke up, bought 27 bitcoins from Binance and deposited them in his wallet, or someone just burned a million dollars.” The reactivation of the wallet has raised questions about whether it was indeed Nakamoto who made the transfer or if someone else is attempting to draw attention to the original creator of the cryptocurrency.
