What to expect from CES 2024? Artificial intelligence and more artificial intelligence

The 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is set to take place this week, revealing the latest advancements and gadgets in the technology industry. As the world enters an era increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence (AI), it’s no surprise to see that AI-driven innovations will once again take center stage at the event.

In addition to the expected eye-catching presentations and outlandish products, CES is also a platform for meaningful negotiations and deals between industry leaders and retailers. Dipanjan Chatterjee, principal analyst at Forrester, emphasized that AI is expected to impact a wide range of products and services, from consumer devices to employment trends and ethical considerations.

This year’s event is anticipated to attract over 130,000 in-person attendees, showcasing more than 4,000 exhibitors and 1,200 startups from around the world. Notable figures from tech giants like Samsung, LG, and Microsoft will share their insights, though Apple is not expected to make an appearance.

Beyond AI, this year’s CES will also spotlight foldable screens, next-generation wearables, and mixed reality accessories. A range of transportation innovations, including electric boats, self-piloted pleasure boats, and an electric plane from Hyundai’s air taxi subsidiary, will be unveiled. Additionally, popular car manufacturers will reveal the latest advancements in automotive technology.

Furthermore, new portable devices and high-tech accessories are expected to grab attention. Products such as Dusk Rx, the world‘s first prescription glasses that adjust lens shade, and high-tech leggings designed to improve sports performance are among those vying for innovation awards.

Despite the abundance of products on display, AI continues to be the driving force at CES. Per Stuart Carlaw, research director at ABI Research, AI is the standout trend in tech, and companies risk being overlooked if they don’t have an AI-related story to share.
