In the Emergency Decree approved in the Chamber, the terms that the EU directive on unfair commercial practices had lengthened are restored: business satisfied
With an amendment proposed by Assolatte and approved on Wednesday 18 May by the Chamber, the payment times for milk to 30 days, instead of the current 60, have been restored in the law converting the Ukraine Emergency Decree. The Italian legislation provided that all products with shelf life of less than 60 days and all types of drinking milk must be paid for no later than thirty days from invoicing. But with the transposition of the European directive on unfair practices, the payment times for many dairy products would have been changed: in particular, payments for some types of milk and dairy products with a maturity of between 30 and 60 days would have been postponed to sixty days from supply.
Satisfied the president of Assolatte, Paolo Zanetti: “The rationale of the national standard was logical and simple: whoever produces starting from raw materials paid for thirty days, transforms and sells the products made in a few days, has the right to be recognized payment conditions similar to those it guaranteed to its suppliers. The modification of the terms is an excellent result for our companies, which are already experiencing very difficult moments due to the unstoppable rush of production costs and a truly complex market situation ».
