The two-wheeler market falls in March It is the setback of the scooters

Two-wheeler registrations in March recorded an overall decline of 2.9% on the same month last year. The figures released by Confindustria Ancma show the downturn in scooters (-18.3%), while the positive trend in motorcycles continues (+ 16.1%). Brilliant performance also for mopeds which closed the month at + 8.1%.
It is the setback of scooters (13,516 registered vehicles equal to -18.36%) that slows down the March market race: in the third month of the year, in fact, 29,646 vehicles (registered + mopeds) were registered, which correspond to a decrease of 2.96%. Although the figure is affected by a large order of vehicles by Poste Italiane in March 2021, the weight of the performance of scooters therefore affects the overall market that in March still records positive numbers in the other segments. In fact, with 14,488 vehicles registered, equal to + 16.13%, motorcycles further consolidate their growth and mopeds are also returning with the plus sign, putting 1,642 vehicles on the road, which corresponds to a convincing + 8.1%.

Despite the minus signs in February and March, the first quarter of the year nonetheless closed positively. With 64,712 registered vehicles, the change is in fact + 0.23%. The protagonists of this trend are still motorcycles (+ 21.38% and 32,748 vehicles registered) and mopeds which, with 4,550 units, also show a double-digit increase (+ 15.75%). On the other hand, scooters remain in the negative area with 27,378 vehicles registered, equal to -18.58% on the first quarter of 2021.

The electricity market, on the other hand, confirms its growth: in March it placed 1,486 vehicles on the market, recording an increase of 66.22% compared to March 2021. The performance of zero-impact two-wheelers was also good in the first quarter of 2022 which, with 3,424 vehicles registered, stands at + 67.27%.
