Tier Mobility buys Spin and lands in North America

Tier Mobility, Europe’s leading provider of shared micro-mobility, has announced the acquisition of Spin, the Ford-owned electric scooter and bicycle operator, marking Tier’s entry into North America. With this acquisition, Tier expands its presence in more than 520 cities in 21 countries and expands its fleet by 300,000 vehicles (electric scooters and scooters and e-bikes), making it the largest multimodal micro-mobility operator internationally.

The fleet will rise to 300,000 units

After the recent acquisitions of the Italian market leader Wind Mobility and the main European bike sharing operator Nextbike, Tier was already operating in over 410 cities with a fleet of 250,000, which with the 50,000 spins will increase to 300,000. “Investing and modernizing the Spin fleet with 100% replaceable batteries is part of the objectives to achieve environmental sustainability in the micro-mobility sector”, reads a note released by the company “The leading brand, the team and the approach based on the partnership with Spin, will continue in North America as an independent entity, while the UK business will be transferred to Tier at a later date ».

High safety standard

Spin “has established solid partnerships with cities in North America” also on the basis of “cutting-edge approaches for the construction of charging infrastructures. Tier – reads the press release – offers a high standard of safety and sustainability for the sector, such as interchangeable battery technology, owned by the Tier Energy Network ».
