The key points

  • Mount Etna
  • The strategy
  • The group

Tommasi, belonging among other things to the historical families of Amarone della Valpolicella, arrives in Sicily and lands in the territory of Etna. 15 hectares have been completely dedicated to the Etna Rosso doc and Etna Bianco doc denominations: the latest investment by the family of Veronese winemakers, which thus celebrates the 120th anniversary of its foundation.

The estate is located in an enchanting position in the Le Chiuse del Signore district at 570 meters above sea level, in the small town of Linguaglossa, in the Etna Natural Park, a few kilometers from Taormina, the winery, born at the beginning of Twentieth century, which the Tommasi family acquired, in one of the most prestigious and renowned territories for the production of great wines. Linguaglossa could be defined as the Bolgheri of the South.

The estate – as a note explains – covers 15 hectares, cultivated in Nerello Mascalese and Carricante for the production of wines of the controlled designations of origin Etna Rosso and Etna Bianco respectively and is located in a natural context of breathtaking beauty, which includes views of the sea. and the surprising sight of an enormous natural creation in lava stone, baptized Pietracannone. On the estate there is also a cellar for winemaking and aging of 1,500 square meters.

«For 120 years we have had the ambitious goal of describing Italy through its winemaking excellence and of being its esteemed ambassadors all over the world – affirms the president Dario Tommasi -. Etna today represents one of the most interesting and stimulating territories both from the point of view of production and of the market. We are proud to be able to add this appellation to our portfolio with the others we already represent such as Valpolicella Classica, Lugana, Montalcino, Vulture ».

The agreement was signed with the Bambara De Luca family, historic hoteliers in Taormina. «We have known the Tommasi family for some time – reads a note from the Bambara De Luca – and we appreciate their family union, which, combined with industriousness and competence, have enabled important goals that go well beyond the Valpolicella Classica. The Tommasi family, like ours, has always had a vocation for welcome and hospitality. We immediately found ourselves on the same wavelength, with a common vision of enhancing the territory and its riches. This collaboration, I am sure, will give further prestige to Etna and to the whole wine tourism sector ».
