Train strike 4 and 5 May, from guarantee periods to travellers’ rights: what you need to know

MILANO – A Sunday of possible inconvenience for travelers on railway lines is looming due to the national strike proclaimed by an independent trade union which will involve the staff of the FS group. The stop will start from 9pm on Saturday and will last 24 hours. The same company explained that “the national strike could have a significant impact on railway traffic and lead to total and partial cancellations of Frecce, Intercity and Trenitalia Regional trains”. The effects, in terms of cancellations and delays, “may occur even before and last beyond the end time of the strike”, adds the group, inviting all passengers to inform themselves before going to the station and, where possible, to reschedule the voyage.

Travelers will be able to request a ticket refund in accordance with the General Conditions of Transport of each carrier, which can be consulted on the website of the individual Railway Companies.

Information on connections and services also through the Trenitalia app, the Infomobility section of this site, the trenitaliatper.it website, the toll-free number 800 89 20 21, as well as at ticket offices and customer service staff. On the portal there is a list of guaranteed trains, while there are no guaranteed time slots as the agitation falls on a public holiday.

The railway transport company also publishes a note on the weekend’s unrest, explaining that “trains may be cancelled. However, it should be noted that the acronym CAT is not represented in Trenord: in similar circumstances there were no significant repercussions on the service”.
