The auto industry is abuzz with the latest announcement from Zhiji Auto, as they revealed their plans to launch the Zhiji L6 with the first ultra-fast charging solid-state battery to be put into mass production. This groundbreaking development aims to completely solve the range anxiety often associated with pure electric vehicles.

During a live broadcast on March 26, Liu Tao, co-CEO of Zhiji Auto, and Li Zheng, co-founder and general manager of Qingtao Energy, introduced the solid-state battery to the public. The battery is described as a semi-solid-state battery and will have a cost that is slightly higher than the current ternary lithium options available on the market.

One of the most impressive features of the solid-state battery is its ability to achieve a 400-kilometer cruising range after just 10 minutes of charging, thanks to the quasi-900V high-voltage architecture of the Zhiji L6. The four-wheel drive version is expected to have a maximum cruising range of 1,000 kilometers, while the two-wheel drive version will also have an increased range.

The Zhiji L6 is set to officially launch in May 2024, with a price point that is expected to be lower than the NIO ET7 solid-state version, which was priced at 428,000 yuan. Industry experts believe that this lower price point will drive sales and strengthen the market for solid-state batteries in electric vehicles.

The announcement from Zhiji Auto comes at a time when other manufacturers are also ramping up their efforts in solid-state battery production. Companies like Ningde Times, Huineng Technology, and Guoxuan Hi-Tech are making significant investments in solid-state battery technology, with expectations of commercialization in the near future.

Overall, the industry is at an inflection point for ultra-fast charging solid-state batteries, with the potential for significant advancements in the coming years. As manufacturers focus on commercialization and production, the future looks bright for electric vehicles and the use of solid-state batteries in the automotive industry.
