United Airlines Introduces MileagePlus Program Allowing Sharing of Reward Miles
United Airlines has announced a groundbreaking new program that allows members to share their reward miles with family and friends. The program, called MileagePlus, allows up to five members to contribute and combine their miles into a joint account.
This new feature, available on the official United Airlines website, is the first of its kind in the United States. Any MileagePlus member, whether a family member or close friend, can now be part of a group with other members to share or exchange miles.
Luc Bondar, Chief Operating Officer of MileagePlus, expressed his excitement about the program, stating, “We are always looking for new ways to deliver maximum value to all of our loyal members. We are proud to be the first major U.S. airline to allow our members to share their miles with their loved ones and friends.”
To participate in the MileagePlus program, members must be over 18 years old and have an active MileagePlus account. Group leaders can invite up to four family members, friends, or travel companions of any age to join the group. Once in the group, members can contribute miles and redeem them for award flights on United and United Express.
There are no limits to the number of miles that can be contributed to an active mileage pool, giving members flexibility and convenience when booking flights on United.com or the United mobile app.
