Wall Street opens cautiously on the eve of the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) monetary policy decision and pending quarterly results from tech giants, starting with Apple. In the first few minutes of trading, the Dow Jones index slipped by 0.6%, the S & P500 fell by 0.5% and the Nasdaq dropped by -0.3%.
Today the Fed begins its two-day meeting which will end tomorrow with the monetary policy announcement followed by the press conference by Governor Jerome Powell. From the macro front, consumer confidence will come this afternoon, which could decline after the signs of weakness highlighted by the index calculated by the University of Michigan.
But attention will also be paid to the corporate front, where the quarterly season continues apace. Accounts of Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft and Visa are scheduled today.
