Weather, snow on the plains. That’s where. The list of cities

The snow is about to return to Italy: the maps speak clearly, according to the latest update the flakes, this time, could really arrive near the plains. The website www.ilmeteo.it writes it.

Temperatures have dropped by several degrees in recent days, especially in the North, returning to values that are decidedly more suited to the period. At night and in the early morning, values around -3/-4°C were even recorded down to the plains, as had practically never happened in this first part of winter. Our attention now shifts to the next few days when a series of unstable impulses descending from Northern Europe they will hit our country, causing various rainfall. Even snowy ones!

Given the drop in temperatures and the intensity of the precipitation, the snow could even reach the plains or at least the low hills (2/300 meters on Wednesday 17 January). In technical terms, these sudden snowfalls are called ” “inversion snowfall” (transfer of the cold from higher altitudes towards the ground induced by heavy precipitation) and are, especially for lovers of cold and snow, among the most exciting phenomena, characterized by very wet and heavy flakes, of large dimensions and also very scenic. According to the latest updates, the areas most at risk of snow will be the northern parts of the country: certainly the entire Alpine and pre-Alpine range, but flakes cannot be ruled out as far as the high plains of Lombardy and Veneto and, more sporadically, on those of Piedmont.

Another decidedly dangerous effect due to the passage of the mid-week disturbance will be freezing: this phenomenon occurs when the rain or drizzle remains in a liquid state even with temperatures below zero. In this way the precipitation in contact with the ground instantly freezes, making road traffic extremely dangerous. Frostbite may occur in the areas close to the northern Apennines (especially in the Parma and Piacenza areas).

And it doesn’t end here, in fact from Friday 19th January an outbreak of arctic air is expected, perhaps even the most intense of the winter, which will probably cause further snowfalls, this time very low also in the Centre.
