New contract worth approximately 940 million euros for the Webuild Group in Saudi Arabia for the construction in Riyadh of a mega multi-storey car park with 10,500 spaces, the Diriyah Square – Package 2 Super-Basement Works, developed on three levels and all underground, for a total intervention area of approximately 1 million square meters. Commissioned by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, the works will lead to the employment of over 9,000 people. This is learned in a note from the group led by Pietro Salini.
The Diriyah Gate Development, as a whole, will lead to the birth of a new district along the Western Ring Road, in the north-west area of Riyadh, covering a total area of 7kmq. The district’s architecture and design will be inspired by the traditional Najdi style, providing for the development of a real network on a human scale, with pedestrian streets, squares, outdoor courtyards, souks and bazaars, to recreate the authentic feeling of a village Saudi. The contract awarded to the Webuild Group, through the subsidiary Salini Saudi Arabia, will be the heart of this entire project, involving the construction of civil and structural works, tunnels and related works, of the vast parking area at the hub of the district.
