Apple’s mobile phone iPhone14 Pro is expected to be launched in the second half of next year. The market speculates that this high-end mobile phone will use a “punch screen”, which is to get rid of the current “bangs screen” design. Korean media reported that Samsung Display, LG Display, and China’s panel manufacturer BOE are currently supplying panels to Apple, and these three companies have different reactions to the above forecast.

BusinessKorea reported that Samsung Display currently supplies 100% of the OLED panels for the iPhone 13 Pro. In addition, its own punch-hole design OLED panels have been used in Samsung Electronics’ own smartphones. According to market experts, based on its experience, Samsung Display will be able to continue to dominate the panel supply of the new iPhone.
Although LG Display does not currently supply perforated screens, it says that the manufacture of perforated panels is a breeze for the company. At present, the main cooperation relationship between LG Display and Apple is the LTPO TFT technology of the iPhone Pro model.
BOE has a clear record of the development and manufacturing of perforated screens. However, its OLED technology is not as good as that of South Korean panel makers. BOE is also committed to the development of LTPO TFT OLED panels at the request of Apple. However, mass production will not be until 2023 at the earliest. This means that the supply of panels to Apple may still be limited to non-Pro models in the short term.
