Zambia and Zimbabwe have agreed to re-tender the $5 billion Batoka hydropower project, previously awarded to General Electric and Power Construction Corporation of China, and plan to select new bidders by September next year. This was reported to Bloomberg by the CEO of the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA), the joint venture between the two countries that manages the Kariba dam complex.

Munyaradzi Munodawafa said the ZRA expects to receive bids by April 2025 and choose bidders five months later.
