1989 – GUY WILLIAMS. On April 30, but 35 years ago, the American actor Guy Williams, famous in Latin America for starring in the series El Zorro, died.

Williams died at the age of 65 in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Recoleta. In addition to the famous series broadcast between the late 1950s and early 1960s, Williams also starred in the successful television series Lost in Space and Bonanza.

The actor who played the mythical character of Zorro in the Disney series whose beginnings date back to 1957 had a sad end in Buenos Aires, a city where he died in oblivion.

Guy Williams was born in 1924 in New York, United States and died in April 1989 in the Recoleta neighborhood.

The one who had some details of the landing in Argentina was Mirtha Legrand herself, who was already a television star when Canal Trece brought the actor from California to local television.

“He died here, in Argentina, very few people remember him. He came to the country, at the time of Goar Mestre on Channel 13, and I met the wife (Janice Cooper) and the children (Steven and Toni Catalano). 1977 – MOTHERS OF THE SQUARE. In the midst of a civil-military dictatorship, fourteen women led by Azucena Villaflor march for the first time in the Plaza de Mayo to claim for their missing children. A police officer had told the pioneers of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo organization that they could not meet there, so they began to march around the Pyramid of Mayo.

The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) releases the source code of the WorldWideWeb, marking a milestone by opening access to Internet software to the public domain, which thus began its expansion throughout the world. 2011 – ERNESTO SABATO. The physicist, writer and essayist Ernesto Sábato, author of the series of novels “The Tunnel”, “On Heroes and Tombs” and “Abaddón the Exterminator”, dies in the Buenos Aires town of Santos Lugares, at the age of 99. He chaired the National Commission on the Disappearance of Persons (Conadep), which gathered testimonies about crimes against humanity committed during the last civil-military dictatorship.

2024 – JAZZ DAY. International Jazz Day is celebrated, established in 2011 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote “the virtues of this musical genre as an educational tool and engine for peace, unity , dialogue and the reinforcement of cooperation between peoples.”
