A Thousand Bones Film Falters at Box Office

Kuai Technology reported on January 24 that the movie “A Thousand Bones of Flowers” was released on January 20. Despite being just the fourth day of the film’s release, the box office numbers are less than 5 million.

In response to the disappointing performance at the box office, Zhang Chaoli, the director of the movie, recorded an apology video, expressing his deep remorse for the underwhelming reception. “This surprised me. I feel very guilty at this moment. I’m sorry for our producer and betrayed his trust. I also feel sorry for my teammates. I feel that my four years of hard work have not paid off, and I want to say sorry to everyone here,” he said in tears.

Despite the film’s lackluster performance, actor Zhao Liying posted on her personal Weibo to show support for the movie, stating, “After nine years, I support the producer Sister Tang.” She also posted a poster for the movie version of “A Thousand Bones.”

“A Thousand Bones of Flowers” is directed by Zhang Chaoli and stars Chen Duling and Li Chengbin, with Mao Zijun making a special appearance. The film also features appearances by Chen Xiaodong, Zhang Danfeng, and Zhang Li.

The drama version of “A Thousand Bones of Flowers” was launched in 2015, starring Huo Jianhua and Zhao Liying. It won the top ten most influential TV series of the year at the 2015 National Drama Festival.
