A Vespa in the cable car, the latest record in the Guinness Book of Records

by admin

Those who know Günter Schachermayr were not surprised: the stuntman from Steyr several times a year performs in feats – sometimes dangerous – always on the saddle of the most famous scooter in the world: he jumped with a parachute, traveled a long distance in diving, he ‘slalom’ with his eyes blindfolded between the pins without the front wheel, did bungee jumping. So far 34 companies have been completed, some still awaiting validation in the record book.

What did he do this time? A “trip” to the Salzkammergu, on the Feuerkogelbahn, la tram line built in 1927 that extends from the town of Ebensee to the summit of Mount Feuerkogel, staring the scooter to the cabin with a special platform made for this feat, with a specifically trained driver.

The singular “spin” on the 2917-meter journey lasted just under 6 minutes and involved a fair risk, as the 43-year-old performer emphasized with a little emphasis: “It’s not something for those with weak nerves, the a smaller gust of wind or a trivial inattention could have cost me my life ».

The difficulties of the record were not of a technical nature, but of a bureaucratic level. «In order to make this world record attempt – he explained – it was necessary to request a mountain of authorizations. They were granted, but we had to present very specific programs and plans which we had to strictly adhere to. And hope for good weather, but it went well ».

He just has to plan the next challenge.
