Activision Blizzard confirms that former “World of Warcraft” director was fired for misconduct-Game-Blizzard blizzard

by admin

Activision Blizzard confirmed that Alex Afrasiabi, the former senior creative director of World of Warcraft, was fired last year for “improper treatment of other employees.” Afrasiabi is the only person who has been specifically mentioned in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard’s alleged discrimination and harassment in addition to multiple references to Blizzard’s president J. Allen Brack. The lawsuit mentioned that the director of “World of Warcraft” had “harassed female employees, said he wanted to marry them, tried to kiss them, and put his arms around them.”

“Afrasiabi’s harassment of female employees is so well known that his hotel room is nicknamed’Cosby Suite’ (Bill Cosby is an American comedian who was involved in sexual assault),” the lawsuit said.

Kotaku gave a detailed report on the “Cosby Suite”-Afrasiabi’s hotel room during the 2013 Blizzard Carnival-and the misconduct orchestrated by Afrasiabi and other prominent Blizzard employees.

In response to this report, Activision Blizzard confirmed that it was aware of these appeals and dealt with Afrasiabi accordingly.

“An employee brought us to these 2013 incidents in June 2020,” an Activision Blizzard spokesperson told the site. “We immediately conducted an internal investigation and took corrective measures. When the report was released, we had conducted a separate investigation of Alex Afrasiabi and fired him for misbehavior of other employees.”

Earlier this week, following reports surrounding the lawsuit, the World of Warcraft development team issued a statement promising that changes will happen behind the scenes and the game itself. Although the changes in the game were not explained in detail, PC Gamer reported that fans called Blizzard to reduce the jokes surrounding Afrasiabi, and it can be found that his name is related to multiple characters and items.
