Former governor of California and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed on his podcast “Arnold’s Pump Club” that he underwent surgery last week to have a pacemaker inserted. The 76-year-old actor shared that he is “doing very well” after the procedure.
Schwarzenegger, who was born with a bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart defect, has previously undergone surgeries to replace his pulmonary valve and aortic valve. His recent surgery was necessary due to irregular heartbeat caused by scar tissue from previous surgeries.
Despite his upbringing in Austria where medical issues were not openly discussed, Schwarzenegger decided to share his health journey to inspire others who may be facing similar challenges. He mentioned receiving messages from people with the same health condition who found courage and hope in his story.
The actor expressed gratitude to the medical team at the Cleveland Clinic for their care and emphasized the importance of regular checkups and staying in touch with doctors when dealing with a genetic heart problem. Schwarzenegger remains positive about his recovery and is looking forward to returning to his fitness routine and upcoming projects, including the TV series “Fubar.”
