In Huincul Square, the headquarters of the Neuquén Regional Faculty of the National Technological University -UTN- next 23rd there will be a symbolic hug. The call is made for 5:30 p.m. and in line with the national mobilization that will take place that day in defense of the public university.
Coinciding with the mobilizations that are planned for the 23rd, the UTN – FRN called on the communities of Cutral Co and Plaza Huincul to join the local activity. At the national level, the federal march in defense of the public university will be carried out.
From this house of higher studies it was founded the need to make the claim visible in the face of the budgetary deterioration that it is experiencing and the “adjustment carried out by the national government” in all public universities.
It was indicated that the prevailing financial situation affects “not only operational maintenance resources but scholarship programs, scientific and technological research and development projects.
The university community will carry out the measure throughout the country to express disagreement with the policy applied by the central government. The hug will take place in the central building, located on Rotter Avenue in the Uno neighborhood of Plaza Huincul. In this institution They teach two undergraduate courses: Chemical and Electronic Engineering. In addition, tertiary and trade courses, in addition to the pre-university school.
At the beginning of the month, the rector of the UTN, Rubén Soro was in Cutral Co where he commented on the financial situation. On that occasion he explained that the funds would be enough for about «from three months» more due to the lack of updating of the money allocated to its operation.
In that visit, which was to learn about the progress of the construction of the pre-university Technical College, located near the City park, in Cutral Co, Soro described that it is the only one that is being carried out because the municipality decided to face the construction.
