Waited for so many years, with marches and countermarches, Athens has its stadium. The one that cost so much to build. Finally the new house is ready. There are still no balls hitting but there is less and less to go.
With the highest authorities of the entity, President David Urreta and Vice President Felipe Lábaque, the Structure Pretende Atenas stadium was inaugurated, which has the capacity to hold 3,500 people and extends to 6,000 for artistic shows, such as the one that Abel Pintos will give on Wednesday (also Thursday and Saturday).
Former players and leaders of Córdoba basketball were present at the opening of the “new home” of Verde. “This work is by the last great leader, who fulfills one of his last dreams,” Urreta said about Felipe Labaque.
The now vice president confessed: “I don’t have the strength to give a speech, just thank everyone who helped us.”
Lábaque, accompanied by his entire family, thanked one by one those who helped build the stadium and the “old” employees of the club for the work. “Eternal gratitude to everyone,” he said.

Lábaque remembered his wife Mirta, who died 20 months ago, and closed with emotion: “Athens, this is your home.”
