Baron Skull – April Tour 2024

We are used to extensive live activities in our native French-speaking region from the Parisian prog rock fusion trio Baron Crâne. As part of a spring tour they also stopped in German regions again.
The Cadillac is a youth center in the heart of the Lower Saxony city of Oldenburg, where young people are introduced to musical culture, small bands have the opportunity to perform and make contacts.
Of course, there can also be bands that move outside of this circle. And so it happened that Baron Crâne was able to perform here on April 5th, 2024. They were supported by the Bremen post rockers Mouth. What I had heard from the quartet beforehand was also confirmed in the live context. Two guitars in the line up lead in the case of Mouth to an extremely difficult sound corset.
The current album was presented Flokatithe studio version of which is unfortunately only available via streaming or download, and which is gaining a lot of liveliness live, especially in the bass range, and also has a cool North German sense of humor.
Even the support act is great
Baron Crâne then entered the stage a little late. In the ten years of their existence, they have released four albums from which they make full use live. Made the beginning Warm Lake from the first fruit EP1followed by Inner Chasm from the current work The good days.
The development and increasing maturity of the trio can be clearly observed in the two songs. The three of them were bursting with joy to play. Especially the guitarist Léo Pinon-Chaby jumped, screamed and jumped on the stage, but with these emotions he spoke just as well for the other two members.
A mature band full of joy of playing
In the following we went back to the past EP1 and MD Stoner. The song that is probably most recognizable in a live context is the following opener of the third album Concussions, Firmin. Compared to previous tours, it is noticeable that the trio has optimized their stage presence and is continuing to work on it. The audience of around thirty people present didn’t need to be encouraged to join in; they were consistently enthusiastic about the French.
This was followed by something more current, Mercury from the current album and the first song from the second album Electric Shadesits opener The Chase, which works brilliantly live and is totally captivating. As opposed to Mouth, who did not yet have their own merchandise stores, the interested fan could find out more about them Baron Skull almost fully equipped. All albums were available, the more recent ones also on vinyl as well as various t-shirts, posters and so on.
We concluded the evening Marion’s, Quarantine as well as Larry’s Journey from the current album. It was a very nice evening in a great location with two excellent bands that are always worth visiting. Anyone who has the opportunity Baron Skull If you want to see it live in this country or on your next holiday in France, you should definitely do so.
