Since Kate Middleton underwent surgery on her abdomen in January and it became clear that she would disappear from the public eye for a while, there has been intense speculation worldwide about what was going on. There were numerous memes and conspiracy theories circulating about what exactly was going on, and there was a lot of laughter on social media with the very clumsy Photoshopped photo of the princess and her children. It went so far that the princess decided on Friday to post a video on social media, in which she indicated that she was being treated for cancer and in which she especially asked for rest.

The news is causing a stir in the UK and beyond. She receives nothing but support from the press, and several celebrities are also in the dust. For example, there is the American actress Blake Lively, known from Gossip Girl, who had poorly edited a photo after the edited photo and posted it on Instagram to mock Kate. “I’m sure no one cares today, but I feel like I have to admit this. I made a stupid post about the ‘photoshop fails’ craze and, oh, man, that post cracked me up today. I’m sorry. I wish you the best.”

Omid Scobie, Harry and Meghan’s unofficial biographer, also posted on social media that he regretted posting a countdown clock to Kate’s announcement. Meghan King (39), known from The Real Housewives of Orange County, said she felt very bad for contributing to conspiracy theories about the princess. “I saw all the news about Kate Middleton and it’s so terrible. I’m the same age as her so it really touches me and I’m just sending prayers and good vibes her way. I feel really bad that I participated in the extramarital speculation, which, I mean, it may still be the case, but it’s not important here.”
