Accepting the proposal of the city of Vigevano, Domodossola will participate in the promoting committee of the celebrations dedicated to Ludovico il Moro. The goal is to highlight the figure of the Duke of Milan, who also played a fundamental role in the Ossola events. The anniversary concerns the 570th anniversary of the birth of Ludovico Sforza (which took place in Vigevano in 1452), and the date will be an opportunity for a relaunch of cultural tourism in a single circuit, with several cities involved in the sign of a historical thread: the link with the Sforza family.

«We accepted Vigevano’s invitation to participate in this committee – explains the Councilor for Culture of Domodossola Daniele Folino – both for the caliber of the historical figure and for the importance it also had in our territory. Federico Troletti, the curator of the civic museums, will be part of the technical committee and will collaborate in organizing the events ».

«Domodossola will also contribute with a scientific and cultural contribution – comments Troletti – and will be an opportunity and stimulus to allow us to deepen the events and the figure of Ludovico il Moro in Ossola».

The celebrations aim to divulge a crucial period in local and national history, with the Duke of Milan who ruled in the middle of the Renaissance and brought back to court the best art talents of the period, from Leonardo to Bramante. Bramante himself made an inspection in Ossola to check the state of the fortifications in the area of the Crevola bridge. The whole area in fact had a strategic importance for the tranquility of the duchy, therefore it needed solid defense works. Ludovico il Moro is therefore linked to fundamental moments of local history, including the victory of the famous battle of Crevola against the Vallesani, the construction of signal towers and various defensive fortifications.
