MILAN – It is bulletproof and does not burn at high temperatures: it is the new graphene battery from Nanotech Energy.

The project carried out in collaboration with Voltaplex was born from the numbers provided by various research on the frequency with which batteries easily ignite at certain temperatures.

In particular, in February 2018, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission reported over 25,000 incidents, where batteries overheated and caused fires.

From a technical point of view and from the first tests carried out, the new lithium ion battery, with 18650 cells, is built using graphene and replacing the electrolyte with a proprietary solution.

And the new recipe of this battery has all it takes to be put at the service of mobility, fitting the new product on electric cars.

To date, the battery has been stressed at temperatures below 40°, above 60° and has resisted up to 180° without catching fire.

Other evidence, which has gone viral on social media, is that of the bullet hitting him and passing through him at a speed of 900 m/s without causing sparks.

Now, everything seems to be ready for production at the company’s factory in Chico, California.

In a note, Curtis Collar, Chief Sales at Nanotech Energy, writes: “We have read several times about huge fires caused by cheap, poor-quality batteries. Their devastating effects have caused significant losses to people: sometimes their homes, other times their businesses. In the worst cases, even their lives. With our battery, we say enough to all this.”
