Electric charging network, the j’accuse di Federauto

by admin

ROMA – “Without columns it will be very difficult to convince Italians to buy electric vehicles”. The Italian Federation of Car Dealers (Federauto) takes the field on the problem of the charging network, which despite its efforts is unable to keep up with the development of the electric car market, which is now in full swing.

In fact, the 2021 budget law required the construction of a network of high-potential charging infrastructures on the motorways by 30 June, but the coverage plan is blocked. The Transport Regulatory Authority (Art) therefore approved a resolution setting the deadline for publishing the requirements for the calls for the end of February 2022. Times that appear to be inadequate and incompatible with those envisaged by EU and national obligations, explains Federauto. A situation that significantly hinders the growth of the sector and the energy transition, conditioning the development of the electric vehicle market due to the scarcity of recharging points. On long-distance routes: only two on a national network of almost 7,000 km.

“The energy transition rests on two fundamental pillars: incentive policies for the renewal of the circulating car fleet and the spread of electric vehicle charging infrastructures, both in cities and on the motorway network”, explains Adolfo De Stefani Cosentino, President of Federauto “Without these levers we will not be able to reach the ambitious national and European objectives. It is singular that the PNRR rightly points to the diffusion of the columns with a commitment of funds and that, at the same time, the commitments contained in a state law are ignored. Electric mobility – concludes De Stefani Cosentino – cannot be just a slogan, moreover disregarded by the facts ”. (fp)
